My Mission
For my, diversity, equity, and inclusion are becoming the core of who we are. My commitment to these values is unwavering - across all my work within the social impact lens. They are central to my life mission within this work and to my impact with the clients and colleagues I work with. I know that having varied perspectives helps generate better ideas to solve the complex problems of a changing and increasingly diverse world.
I believe that diversity is a mission-critical piece of our social work culture, and that without equity and inclusion, it would be impossible for our diverse staff to do their best work supporting families. Since beginning in this field, I have taken action to infuse these values throughout my career, systems, and practices. I have listened and observed the materials from CFSR reviews and audits of case studies, policies, practices, and procedures to ensure I am in support of the values and enable our clients to feel their voices are being heard. I enlist providers and services who demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion. I know that because of our progress, we have changed the conversations we are having as an organization and paved the way for deeper, more lasting and inclusive change. Moving forward, I will continue to view our progress through the same social work lens that drives our community external efforts to ensure that our culture in this world reflects the just world we wish to create.
Diversity is the representation of all our varied identities and differences (race, ethnicity, gender, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, tribe, caste, socio-economic status, thinking and communication styles, etc.), collectively and as individuals. I will always seek to proactively engage, understand, and draw on a variety of perspectives. I believe that the solution to the problems we hope to address through our assessments and case reviews can be found by affirming our similarities, as well as by finding value in our differences.
Equity seeks to ensure fair treatment, equality of opportunity, and fairness in access to information and resources for all. I believe this is only possible in an environment built on respect and dignity. Inclusion builds a culture of belonging by actively inviting the contribution and participation of all people. That includes the parents and their support systems we are invested in. I believe every person’s voice adds value, and I strive to create balance in the face of power differences. I believe that no one person can or should be called upon to represent an entire community. Instead, I believe that community represents those voices or that one person who can’t speak.
I’d love to help you find you or your organization’s new path.
